Marine Conservation Volunteer in Ecuador |
Currently, some of our strongest conservations efforts are concentrated at the Machalilla National Park. This region has many unique features that make it one of the most important protected areas of Ecuador. Machalilla is Ecuador's only coastal park. Machalilla's Marine Reserve contains some of the most unique species outside of the Galapagos Islands. Isla de la Plata (La Plata island) is, perhaps, most representative of the area inside the Marine Reserve.
It is a site where you will find an abundance of different bird species. However, lack of resources and knowledge have prevented the sustainable management of the area.
All volunteers, interns and students will spend most of their time in the field helping the organization with different projects. Every person that joins us receives our direct guidance from the time of their arrival. In addition, the safety of everyone is very important. Therefore, before starting any project, safety measures will be discussed in detail.
During an orientation session, volunteers will receive detailed information about Ecuador and the area where they will be working. Students can be involved in more than one project depending on their interest and availability. We eagerly try to pair Ecuadorian and international students together so they can learn from one another. We have found that work arrangement to be an excellent way to promote cultural exchange.
This project has a particular start date; volunteers may join each Monday of every month.
