Prepare the children to face a changing world by raising their cultural and environmental consciousness. The involvement of volunteers in teaching English and other projects can raise the global awareness of local children. Teach English Volunteer Amazon Rainforest program is focused on an indigenous community of the Amazon Rainforest. The construction of a local school is part of the indigenous’ (Kichwa community’s) struggle for collective and traditional rights, especially the rights to receive an education in their native language. The school has a capacity for 30 children, and it offers a greatly improved physical environment for the students. Now, it’s time for the real work to begin!
Volunteer in Ecuador teaching English program allows volunteers to explore the secrets of the Amazon culture and ecosystem, while making positive impacts on the future of indigenous children. There are many important jobs for the volunteers in the school, including teaching English, assisting the teachers with other school subjects, brainstorming fun games for the classroom to keep the students engaged, helping to organize social activities, and improving the physical conditions of the school (painting, building toilets, decorating classrooms, etc). Volunteers will also assist in the reforestation of the school area with edible, medicinal, and ornamental plants, the establishment of a vegetable garden for the children, and- the construction of a school kitchen.
Volunteers generally work at assignments from 8 am to about 1 pm.
